Wake up early and be more productive

by | Published: | Updated: 16/12/2019

There is a strong co-relation between waking up early and being more productive. Wake up early doesn’t mean getting up at 2 am or 4 am in morning without giving proper rest to your body. Your body need rest to recover, recharge itself to go out next day and face the world, hence it’s very important to sleep 6-8 hours to rejuvenate yourself.

Then, what’s the meaning of waking up early. Well,  it simply means become an early riser around 5:30 or 6 AM and formulate a routine.  We don’t have to be a scientist to understand and simply follow the routine of all successful people. You will realize most of them are early riser. From Franklin to Obama, from Branson to Darwin, all were known to rise with the morning sun.

“Be Wise, Early Rise”

  • Robin Sharma

Waking up early gives you many advantages, here are some reasons that why should you wake up early and be more productive:

Time to Exercise

Nothing is better than spending 30 mins or an hour exercising in morning. Morning workouts are one of the best ways to feel energized and prepared for your day. In fact, a morning workout might even give you more energy than a cup of coffee! You’ll receive an instant energy boost and increased mental clarity that will lead to a productive day.

It also helps you to lower down stress level, better mood, improved sleep and lower blood pressure.

Feel the nature

In today’s busy world, most of the time we miss to allocate enough time for ourselves. The moment we wake up, we  realize that we are getting late for office, school, classes and so on. We miss the cycle of nature and don't even give us enough time to go for a morning walk, sit quietly or experience the morning dew . Waking up early give us that few extra minutes to do these.

Here is excerpts from a beautiful article which explains this : The Awakening of Waking Up Early

Ayurveda and its sister science of yoga teach us how deeply our lives are interconnected with the Sun’s cycles. We are all solar powered creatures, and thus, we learn from Ayurveda the importance of sleeping early (ideally by 10pm) so that we can rise early to greet the Sun. The Sun (called “Surya” in Sanskrit) is a symbol of the strength, light, and power of one’s own soul.

Time for Breakfast

Breakfast is an important meal that we often neglect due to time constraints. Rushing to school or work with an empty stomach isn’t going to give you the energy or focus required to perform well. By taking more time in the morning, you have a healthier meal, which will make you more productive and effective.

Stay Ahead In Game

The early risers are one step ahead of the crowd: calm, collected, and accomplished when everyone else is rushing to the office. The early bird has it under control. When you wake up early, you have more time for planning, strategic thinking, and getting organized. You will find you waste less time from being disorganized or making bad decisions. The added benefit of getting to the office first means fewer distractions from colleagues and getting done what you planned to get done.

Power of Routine

Accumulative benefits of waking up early is way more than you think. Once you start waking up early, you have a routine which eventually will result in a habit. A good habit is hard to develop and often require changing your mindset. But if you’re willing to make sacrifices to better your life, the impact can be far-reaching, regardless of your age or physical ability.  It makes you organized, focused, informed, healthy and helps in doing well in life.

There are many benefits of waking up early because it gives us something extra we lose everyday while sleeping. If we utilize that extra time to use wisely and formulate a routine,   the results could be far-reaching. 1 step extra everyday will make you 365 steps  ahead in life after an year. So listen to advise of Mr. Robin Sharma and “Be Wise, Early Rise”.
