My name is Aditi Bagwe; I am an enthusiastic creative women with high intelligence and friendly nature. I love teaching. I have been teaching since 6 years. I am working in Seven Eleven Scholastic School since 2 years. I am a bachelorette in Information Technology (IT). Though of being from IT background, I have been teaching Maths and Science up to Grade 12.
How did you choose the field of education? Was it by choice or some inspiration from someone or a childhood dream? Please help with more details.
Yes, I would say it as a childhood dream. I wanted to be a teacher. I used to follow my teachers, how they react, and the way of teaching, how they explain and so on.. After my 12th Exams, I started helping and working in the same classes where I studied from Std 8th. This brought a confidence in me to teach students, to get involved in them. And after 3years as I completed my B.Sc., I worked as Computer Teacher in SSC school.
What would you like to mention for your greatest achievements in field of education? Which gives you a sense of satisfaction?
As I am a Computer Teacher, the subject itself is called as a graded “Graded Subject”. Students as well parents are not much bothered about Marks of this Subject. But, then I felt, every kid should get involved in the technology. The child should know about basic things related to technology. So started teaching this subject in a different way. Giving examples of daily life, and comparing them to technology, practically working in labs, making ppts and also asking them to make. And this brought interest in kids to study Computers. As I knew, they won’t study the answers; I started asking them practical based questions. And all they had to do was just write it down as they perform.
The achievement is that, Kids used to ask me.. Ma’am when shall we go to the Computer Lab? . And this for me was like. YES.. They are getting interest in working with the machines.
How has the education system changed as per your view since you were a student yourself?
Black boards are replaced with the White boards. Audio video (AV) class which was conducted just once a week , is now conducted daily. All the schools are using projectors every day. Yes.. But, As my Computer subject, I would say.. Getting a chance to use computer was very difficult as we were made to sit in a group of 4-5 students. And we must appreciate that now every child gets chance to handle one PC. So the education system has changed, Every teacher tries to make the topic more informative , innovative and interested for the kids.
What are the qualities you think an individual should possess to be a good teacher or work in field of education?
Not all kids are born brilliant. But I would say, every kid is different in his own ways. It is the teacher who needs to find the hidden talents in them. For that , a teacher has to be very friendly with kids. She has to be their best person to whom they can share everything. Not all are good at studies, Many are good at singing, dancing, and sports and so on… Every child has some talents, but the teacher has to trust the kid to reach his/her goal.
How do you handle discipline problems in today’s world? What is the most difficult aspect of discipline for you?
I can say they are kids.. They have rights to fight, make fun, tease, indiscipline and so one…But to make them realize their mistakes, we need to understand them first. Earlier there were a lot of punishments given to kids. But now it’s even allowed to touch or scold the kid. Yes.. We must not.. But making them realize their mistakes and improving it , is the only thing a child can stop being indiscipline.
If you were to change 1-2 things in our Indian education system, what would be those & why?
Yeah.. The thing which I were to change is that my subject itself. Computer, to be practically involving programming languages and more informative. So that every child gets the knowledge of it. Now a days as we all know, kids are getting more involved in the smart phones, video games, you tubes and many more things. Instead of that, what If the child learns to make programs or coding in any language? .Yes it is going to help them a lot. If they find it difficult in understanding this language, they may also learn block coding, which is very much easier than programming. This brings an interest in child to make different games, projects. And I think that will be more beneficial to kids and parents as well.
What is your philosophy of teaching?
As a teacher, I always encourages the student’s answers, though right or wrong, It should be added as a positive point to kids. So that they get more excited to answer next time. I always start sharing with kids, so that even they get a habit, making some them some things realize, respecting, and many more. As it is said that the kids always follow their teacher.
What are your suggestions or opinions for today’s parents in shaping up children’s personality? Especially in this Online or computer age.
Here is the question of COMPUTER AGE, I would request parents that though you have 2 laptops and 4 smart phones in your family, please do ensure that the child is making its limited use. They get involved in this so much that they forget to respect elders, They even forget who is there around them. They get so involve, that they become careless and only expect the work to be done by someone else. Though the generation is changing, the Respect, Trust, Discipline, should never be forgotten. I may say, this is the Base of the child’s personality. Being handsome, cute, smart is nothing , if the child doesn’t have good qualities.
What are the three most important strengths you possess that will make you a successful teacher? Also any weakness in you which you want to improve upon?
My strength is that I be very friendly , I am creative and I always try to understand the situations. No matter how bad it is, I always give chance and let things go. I hope for the best thing to happen. But I think this is also my weakness, As I need to raise my voice and say against the wrong once, which I cannot. So I need to improve it.
If you had not been a teacher or not associated with education field, what would you have been and why?
If not a teacher, I would have been an artist, as I love drawing and paintings. Else I would have worked as an IT profession.
What do you want to accomplish in your profession in next 5 years?
In next five years, I would accomplish in teaching in a Computer Institute, but possibly only for those who cannot effort smart phones or new technologies.
Any other things you would like to share about yourself, your profession, your hobbies, your views?
I do have many things to share, All I can share is that , Be a good person, never try to prove it. Be good as you are. Always keep smiling. Have a friendly nature, No one should get a chance to say bad about you. My hobbies are art and craft, mehndi, and I really love helping..

TEACHERS SPOTLIGHT PROGRAM
The role of a teacher in society is both significant and valuable. It has far-reaching influence on the society he lives in and no other personality can have an influence more profound than that of a teacher. Students are deeply affected by the teacher's love and affection, character, competence, and moral commitment.
Yet teachers don't get their due respect and credit these days. We have started a Teacher Spotlight program where we recognise the effort of these silent and true Heroes of our society and tell their story.
