Tell us about yourself – Your overall experience in the education field, National / International experiences, variety of work you have done in the education field

I am working as a Master in the government education department. I have an experience of 27 years of service in various high schools and higher secondary schools. I was deputed in nurseries started by govt. in government schools. Presently I am teaching English to 11 and 12 classes. I have experience in cultural programs, Science exhibitions and Toymaking competitions, stage shows, street plays etc.

How did you choose the field of education? Was it by choice or some inspiration from someone or a childhood dream? Please help with more details

It was by choice.

What would you like to mention for your greatest achievements in the field of education? Which gives you a sense of satisfaction?

My Students have achieved excellence in education and are successful in their professions. Students' achievement is my biggest satisfaction.

How has the education system changed as per your view since you were a student yourself?

It has changed from teacher-centered education to child-centered education. Now the teacher acts as a facilitator.

What are the qualities you think an individual should possess to be a good teacher or work in the field of education?

Knowledge

Patience

Teacher-student bonding.

Teacher needs to be compassionate and understand the point of view of student

And mastery in their subjects.

How do you handle a discipline problem in today's world? What is the most difficult aspect of discipline for you?

If a teacher has a good command in his/ her subject, the children tend to listen and understand the topic. The most difficult aspect of discipline for me is dealing with very young students specifically primary students, one has to be extra patient and extra caring to handle them.

If you were to change 1-2 things in our Indian education system, what would be those & why?

I want to change the rote learning process of examination which doesn't yield any good results as children's intelligence cannot be ranked on memory-based tests. I prefer Open textbook assessment.

What is your philosophy of teaching?

My philosophy of teaching is that a student should not only understand the subject but also would be able to apply that knowledge in practical life.

What are your suggestions or guidance for today’s parents in shaping up children’s personalities? Especially in this Online or computer age.

Parents should understand the aptitude of their children and build up their children's careers according to their capabilities and should not force them.

If you had not been a teacher or not associated with the education field, what would you have been and why?

I would have been a good Lawyer because I am good at the interpretation of the legal aspects of the law.

What do you want to accomplish in your profession in the next 5 years?

I see myself as head of the institution doing admiration and teaching simultaneously.

Any other things you would like to share about yourself, your profession, your hobbies, your views?

Teaching is a good hobby and the result is instant. My students are good at cultural programs, stage shows etc. And its a job that I love.

How would you rate our website yayskool.com especially this teacher spotlight program? 1 being the worst, 5 being the best.

 5 out of 5

TEACHERS SPOTLIGHT PROGRAM

The role of a teacher in society is both significant and valuable. It has far-reaching influence on the society he lives in and no other personality can have an influence more profound than that of a teacher. Students are deeply affected by the teacher's love and affection, character, competence, and moral commitment.
Yet teachers don't get their due respect and credit these days. We have started a Teacher Spotlight program where we recognise the effort of these silent and true Heroes of our society and tell their story.
