Tell us about yourself – Your overall experience in education field, National / International experiences, variety of work you have done in the education field.

I am an enthusiastic listener who loves to read and get the best out of my time. As Put my best and result these passions have governed my life.

  • Quest for knowledge
  • Love and care for all
  • Will to shape a better society.

How did you choose the field of education?

There are two reasons – first is my love for children and wanting to contribute in shaping their personality for a better future.

Second is having few wonderful teachers around in my childhood throughout life whose guidance is still a light that drives me.

What would you like to mention for your greatest achievements in field of education? Which gives you a sense of satisfaction?

My past and ongoing experiences as a mother of two children have given me an understanding and patience to deal with children of varied ages, plus I have been a volunteer for different sections of society which broadens my mind and soothing at the same time.

What are the qualities you think an individual should possess to be a good teacher or work in field of education?

Patience, dedication and Persistence are the characteristics of an effective teacher. Patience to understand children in difficult times; Dedication to come up with numerous ways to impact knowledge and be persistent in your efforts to improve children’s overall personality.

How do you handle discipline problems in today’s world? What is the most difficult aspect of discipline for you?

The most difficult discipline problem I face is bullying and use of abusive language within children. So i have a step wise approach to tackle such problems. I have made a compulsory moral story period in the classes and strive to empower the bystanders and make them understand to stand up for each other, which defeats the bully’s objective. And for abusive language, we make the naughtiest child in-charge so that others don’t use slang words.

What are your suggestions or guidance for today’s parents in shaping up children’s personality?

If there is consistent behavioural problem, the root cause is multi-fold and I believe in discussion with parents and personal counselling.

What are the qualities you think an individual should possess to be a good teacher or work in field of education?

I believe in experimental leaving more than theoretical which make children more attentive and practical.

What do you enjoy most/least about working with young people?

Working with young people is amazing; it is wonderful to see these young faces light up when they learn something. The not so good part is the constant disciplinary effects that some children need.

What do you do differently to create a comfort level with children?

I offer extra support for children with different learning needs, extra support by giving them more time and creating a relaxing environment for them.

Some students always finish their assignments early. How would you deal with the free time that they have?

We have an “I’m done “table at school in which there are story books, puzzles and various other activities which can be given to children when they complete these assignment before time.

How do you involve parents in the learning process?

We give weekly assignment (be it activity or project) which has to be worked along with parents.  They also get regular feed backs though Child’s School diary.

What do you want to accomplish in your profession in next 5 years?

I believe that all children are unique and have something special that they       can bring special to value add to education. Assist my students to express themselves freely and create an environment of learning and nurturing.

What are the three most important strengths you possess that will make you a successful teacher? Also any weakness in you which you want to improve upon?

Three most important strengths are:

  • Communication and social skills: To involve children
  • Patience and understanding: To understand them at their worst behaviour.
  • Creativity and enthusiasm for teaching.

Describe a teaching strategy you used to maximize the learning potential of all students.

Teaching is a constant growing and learning process.

I would like to improve –

  1. Incorporating technology while teaching as most of the children nowadays wants to experiment with technology.
  2. Embrace devising more freely in terms of learning ability, responsibility and attention by children.

TEACHERS SPOTLIGHT PROGRAM

The role of a teacher in society is both significant and valuable. It has far-reaching influence on the society he lives in and no other personality can have an influence more profound than that of a teacher. Students are deeply affected by the teacher's love and affection, character, competence, and moral commitment.
Yet teachers don't get their due respect and credit these days. We have started a Teacher Spotlight program where we recognise the effort of these silent and true Heroes of our society and tell their story.
