Tell us about yourself – Your overall experience in education field, National / International experiences, variety of work you have done in the education field.

I am working as private tutor from last 25 years. According to me every student can get success.  If he/ she want to work hard. I would say it has been a very satisfying and content journey of teaching in all forms.

How did you choose the field of education? Was it by choice or some inspiration from someone or a childhood dream?  Please help with more details.

Typical house wife 30+ years back had a limited opportunity. I was lucky to have been educated as a graduate by my parents even though I was a female child. I chose the field of education because I like to teach from childhood. Choosing the career in field of education was an outcome of the intention and the wish to do something meaningful in life.

What would you like to mention for your greatest achievements in field of education? Which gives you a sense of satisfaction?

According to me if any student taught by me get  His/ her expected result and get confidence with their studies, it is more satisfactory for me than the fees. The career which I started out of survival needs turned out to be a career of respect and honour. This itself gives me a sense of belonging and attachment for the field of education and to my students.

How has the education system changed as per your view since you were a student yourself?

Education system has been considerably Changed since. I was student in fact it is quite better before it was only theoretical, now it is more practical and also an accompanied with extracurricular activity.

Girl child education was a very low priority and a selected segment of the society was only educating girls but now the scenario has completely changed with girls taking lead in all stages and fields across.

Old times we had to go to schools after long travels to get educated but today education is as easily available as in your own mobile screens. E-Learning is the new mantra.

Would like to also talk about the education methods changes in year 2020 with the onset of Covid-19 across the world. It was not easy for teachers like us to switch to an online teaching mode especially us not being on the right side of the age. However thanks to many such platforms and our own children and students who are helping us to get accustomed to this new ways of teaching. It is interesting to learn something new at this age.

What are the qualities you think an individual should possess to be a good teacher or work in field of education?

A good teacher should have lots of patience while teaching and should also have capacity to make the student to follow the discipline. You need to guide your students to make the right approach towards quality education. In fact it is very important for today’s teacher to be friends with children to ensure that they allow teachers to guide those making right choices in life.

How do you handle discipline problems in today’s world? What is the most difficult aspect of discipline for you?

Understanding child psychology is the core aspect & the difficult aspect of discipline but if it is done it’s easy to handle discipline problems.  Early age foundation is the key to building a strong discipline amongst children. What I have observed is that when I have been teaching children from the 1st level to 7th level v/s children coming at level 3-4 – the influence of discipline is different.

Stronger the foundation laid, longer and in depth is the discipline inculcated.

If you were to change 1-2 things in our Indian education system, what would be those & why?

Change Examination pattern .It should assess students daily with their all activities. Technology impacted learning with higher order thinking skills. Give more importance to Physical Education and life skills. Gurukul method of Education should not be ignored from our past.

What is your philosophy of teaching / education?

Every child has different psychology and it should be handled according also to be patience and held the child to learn things at his/her knowledge.

I stand by another philosophy i.e. “I believe a teacher should…” and “I use strategies that…” rather than referring to your beliefs and skills in the past tense, such as “I learned it's best to…” or “I helped students achieve…

What are your suggestions or opinions for today’s parents in shaping up children’s personality? Especially in this Online or computer age.

1. To groom the child on its capacity for next set of competencies.

2. To equally take interest in child education as tutor & schools.

3. To understand child to be interested in other circular activity

4. To relief the competition pressure & let the child to open in the world

5. Specifically in the online age, to give more time to understand things more easily

What are the three most important strengths you possess that will make you a successful teacher? Also any weakness in you which you want to improve upon?

1. Patience

2. Understanding child psychology

3. Teaching experience with various school types in last 25 years

4. Weakness:  Can’t be strict to student easily so sometimes they take advantage.

If you had not been associated with education field, what would you have been and why?

I would have taken a social service for the poor segment of society. May be I would have given all required individual contributions to help the needy.

What do you want to accomplish in your profession in next 5 years?

My task as on tutor is to create an atmosphere that helps faster learning because I have passion for guiding my students through the learning process.

Any other things you would like to share about yourself, your profession, your hobbies, your views?

form last few years I have works as tutor, at different levels, I have prepare education activates and lesson that engaged my students in debates on various issues. I have developed love for the job and for my future professional carrier, I am committed making a meaningful contribution to the students growth.

How would you rate our website yayskool.com especially this teacher spotlight program? 1 being the worst, 5 being the best.

It’s a lovely website, quite comprehensive. Simply loved the ‘YayTalk’ section. I did not find anything for change and its user friendly I would rate 5 being the best.

TEACHERS SPOTLIGHT PROGRAM

The role of a teacher in society is both significant and valuable. It has far-reaching influence on the society he lives in and no other personality can have an influence more profound than that of a teacher. Students are deeply affected by the teacher's love and affection, character, competence, and moral commitment.
Yet teachers don't get their due respect and credit these days. We have started a Teacher Spotlight program where we recognise the effort of these silent and true Heroes of our society and tell their story.
