Tell us about yourself – Your overall experience in education field, National / International experiences, variety of work you have done in the education field.

My name is Grishma Sivaprasad.I am polite and calm in nature. I am very passionate about teaching.  I have completed 1 year and 4 months as an Asst. Teacher in Seven Eleven Scholastic School. I am teaching from past 6 years as a tutor. I have also worked as an English teacher with an NGO for 6 months. I have been into classes for a month to teach IB students of higher grades. Although I have been graduated with a chemistry bachelorette, I have taught different subjects to different grade students.

How did you choose the field of education? Was it by choice or some inspiration from someone or a childhood dream?  Please help with more details.

I chose this field of Education because of my family. I have many teachers in my family itself. My inspiration is my mother. She is a wonder woman, possessing all the abilities to deal with the household as well as her teaching profession. Her love and dedication to her duty and her students had drawn me to this field of Education. I have the same qualities of my mother and look forward to become as dedicated as her in this profession.

What would you like to mention for your greatest achievements in field of education? Which gives you a sense of satisfaction?

As a teacher or as Guru  my greatest achievement would be seeing my students reaching to a point of success and satisfaction in their life. I am working on the path of gaining this achievement.  To this very time I have put my fullest to help the children in any context of their life. My biggest satisfaction is seeing a smile on the kid’s face when s/he understands my teaching.

How has the education system changed as per your view since you were a student yourself?

There is no doubt that the education system is getting updated gradually for the betterment of the learners. Since I was a child it was totally teacher – centered , but now it has changed its focus towards learner –centered education. Free education was existing but now it has been implemented in much better way. Education System overall has changed and now many new things are been added.

What are the qualities you think an individual should possess to be a good teacher or work in field of education?

Every individual has a different trait, but a good teacher is the one who use their unique trait for the students. A good teacher is the who knows in and out of his/her student and this is possible by having a strong communication skills and good collaboration. Every student the same in the same way, a teacher needs change his/ her ways to know the student. The utmost quality that an individual should posses to be a good teacher is to Love each student as their own children.

How do you handle discipline problems in today’s world? What is the most difficult aspect of discipline for you?

As it is said – “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will  not depart “

So discipline and other qualities need to be inscribed in a child from the childhood itself. Making the lessons interesting and interactive is the best way to make the class discipline. A teacher needs to maintain a proper balance between being strict and being loving.

If you were to change 1-2 things in our Indian education system, what would be those & why?

There is nothing to be changed in the system but the system has left certain things behind that our forefathers had once thought us . As Gandhian Principles had a philosophy of learning through experience, it has to included in the education system strongly. Practicals should be given more importance and taken as seriously as theory is taken from the primary level itself. Our system has included holistic development but it does not include spiritual aspects. Agriculture is our primary occupation but our system introduces agriculture just as chapter in the textbooks rather than giving realistic and practical knowledge and importance of agriculture.

What is your philosophy of teaching?

As I have Studied varied philosophies in my B.Ed curriculum, I believe the

What are your suggestions or opinions for today’s parents in shaping up children’s personality? Especially in this Online or computer age.

Home is the first environment for a child to learn from. Parents are the vital source in shaping their children. Goal Setting and rewarding – these two things should be dealt with the children by the parents.  Parents should make the environment healthy for the child to share his views and opinions.

A child must be knowledge about the good and bad effects of using computer. Online activities can be controlled by parents.

What are the three most important strengths you possess that will make you a successful teacher? Also any weakness in you which you want to improve upon?

As a teacher the three most important strengths that I possess are - Systematic, Discipline and Creative approach.

I couldn't call it as my weekness but a thing which I want to improve is I spend more time in explaining the content in detail which is indirectly consumes more time.  So yeah I need to manage my time

If you had not been a teacher or not associated with education field, what would you have been and why?

if not a teacher then I would have become a microbiologist. Along with this I would have done lab tech and would started up with my own diagnostic centre.

What do you want to accomplish in your profession in next 5 years?

In the next five years I would like to see myself in a well reputed post as a chairman of my own school where I can educate the underprivileged children, providing all the provisions at a cheap cost.

Any other things you would like to share about yourself, your profession, your hobbies, your views?

I am self-disciplined person. I indulge into any activities which seems attractive to me. I love learning different languages. I love my profession. If I get a chance I want to uplift the underprivileged so that no one gives a reason of poverty for their illiteracy. Our government and education system is trying at their level but the fact is it's not being  executed in a manner in which it has to be done. So in my path of life if I get a chance I would definitely try to bring a change..

How would you rate our website yayskool.com especially this teacher spotlight program? 1 being the worst, 5 being the best.

I would rate 4 out of 5. You people are doing a good job ...keep it up

TEACHERS SPOTLIGHT PROGRAM

The role of a teacher in society is both significant and valuable. It has far-reaching influence on the society he lives in and no other personality can have an influence more profound than that of a teacher. Students are deeply affected by the teacher's love and affection, character, competence, and moral commitment.
Yet teachers don't get their due respect and credit these days. We have started a Teacher Spotlight program where we recognise the effort of these silent and true Heroes of our society and tell their story.
